This is the Mandarin version of Lili Marleen, chorus in German. You will see the performance of Ruan Lingyu (阮玲玉, Lily Yuen) (April 26, 1910–March 8, 1936) in this music video. She is the most well-known actress of Chinese silent movie and her best movies were made in the first half of the 1930s. Due to tabloid rumors and legal troubles, she committed suicide by sleeping pill overdose at the age of 25. Her funeral was a national event. More than 100,000 mourners lined the streets of Shanghai for a funeral procession that stretched for three miles. The New York Times described her funeral as "the most spectacular funeral of the century".
